The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 12 suspects allegedly involved in the armed robbery that claimed the lives of Arise News anchor Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu and security guard Barnabas Danlami at Unique Apartments in Abuja’s Gishiri Village. The suspects, identified as Shamsudeen Hassan, Hassan Isah, Abubakar Alkamu, Sani Sirajo, Mashkur Jamilu, Suleiman Badamasi, Abdul Salam Saleh, Zaharadeen Muhammad, Musa Adamu, Sumayya Mohammed, Isah Abdulrahman, and Musa Umar, have confessed to the crime.
Recovered Items Include:
– Firearms: Fabricated AK-47 rifle, pump-action gun, locally made pistol
– Ammunition: 36 rounds of 9mm live ammunition
– Other: Mobile phones, sharp knives, cutlass, torchlights, stolen Honda CR-V
The police investigation is ongoing, with efforts to apprehend other fleeing gang members. The incident sparked national outrage, with President Tinubu mourning the journalist’s death.
