Kano Magistrate Court has jailed popular TikToker Ashiru Idris, aka Mai Wushirya, over indecent videos involving a dwarf woman. The court, presided over by Magistrate Halima Wali, ordered Mai Wushirya to be remanded at a Correctional Centre for two weeks before the hearing continues.
The Kano State Censorship Board arrested Mai Wushirya for posting videos deemed “immoral and demeaning” on social media, violating the state’s censorship laws. The court also ordered the arrest of the female partner involved in the videos, who allegedly fled to Zamfara State.
This isn’t an isolated case; Kano courts have recently jailed other TikTokers for indecent content and naira abuse. For instance, Murja Kunya was sentenced to six months imprisonment or a N50,000 fine for spraying naira notes, while Abubakar Usman Kilina received a one-year prison term or N100,000 fine for promoting indecent behavior.
