Former Senator Shehu Sani believes a secondary school certificate is enough to run for political office in Nigeria. He stated this while reacting to the controversy surrounding Minister Uche Nnaji’s academic credentials, which were disowned by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Sani advised politicians to be truthful about their qualifications, warning that opponents will likely dig up any false claims.
This isn’t just Sani’s opinion; Nigeria’s Constitution actually stipulates that a secondary school leaving certificate is the minimum educational qualification required for elective offices, including President, Governors, and National Assembly members.
