NAPTIP recently arrested five suspected human traffickers, including a retired senior law enforcement officer, and rescued 24 victims at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The operation, led by NAPTIP’s Director-General Binta Adamu Bello, was a result of intelligence reports and tip-offs from stakeholders about suspicious activities at the airport.

Notable Case:
– A father, who is a retired senior law enforcement officer, attempted to traffic his daughter to Baghdad, Iraq, under the guise of a supermarket job. The victim was unaware of the destination country’s risks and thanked NAPTIP for rescuing her, vowing to pursue prosecution against her father.
NAPTIP has assured that the suspects will face thorough investigations and prosecution. The agency is committed to protecting Nigerians from human trafficking and exploitation, and this operation marks part of their efforts to crack down on traffickers exploiting vulnerable individuals.
