First Lady Oluremi Tinubu recently shared that life at Aso Rock can be quite secluded, prompting her to focus on her philanthropic efforts, particularly towards young women. Through her Daughters of Zelophehad Ministries, she launched a podcast called “The Conversation” designed to inspire and support young ladies and married women. The initiative aims to reach Nigerians at the grassroots level, working with state First Ladies, spouses of local government chairmen, traditional rulers, and community leaders.
Some key areas of focus for her philanthropic work include:
- Women’s Empowerment: Providing economic support and resources to women, such as the distribution of empowerment items like deep freezers, grinding machines, and cooking gas/ovens to 18,500 women across the country.
- Education: Offering scholarships to students, including 43 students who received scholarships under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) within the first 100 days of the current administration.
- Youth Development: Initiatives like the Alternative High School for Girls in Bauchi State, which provides ICT education to girls who may have faced obstacles like early marriage.
- Support for Vulnerable Groups: Donating food items to vulnerable women in Borno, providing N250 million to 5,000 women affected by the Maiduguri flood disaster, and distributing N1.9 billion to 9,500 elderly citizens nationwide.
Her work with the Renewed Hope Initiative has made a significant impact, and she continues to inspire many with her commitment to service and empowerment.
