Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike for their roles in restoring peace and stability to Rivers State after months of political tension. Fubara made this known in a statewide broadcast on Friday, September 19, 2025, while addressing a large crowd of jubilant supporters at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The emergency rule was lifted on September 17, 2025, after Tinubu announced that a “groundswell of a new spirit of understanding” had been reached among political stakeholders.
