Details of the Incident:
– The fire broke out on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, and claimed multiple lives, with reports indicating that at least 7-10 people lost their lives.
– Several others were injured and rushed to hospitals across Lagos for medical attention.
– The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest it originated from the inverter room.
President Tinubu’s Response:
– He commended the emergency responders, including the Federal Fire Service, first aiders, and medical personnel, for their quick intervention and sense of responsibility during the evacuation.
– Tinubu urged organizations and individuals to prioritize safety measures, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and regular training to prevent similar disasters.
– He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and comfort for their families, while wishing those receiving treatment a speedy recovery.

– FIRS: Confirmed the loss of four staff members, identified as Assistant Directors Ekelikhostse George and David Sunday-Jatto, Senior Manager Nkem Onyemelukwe, and Manager Peter Ifaranmaye.
– United Capital: Six employees lost their lives in the incident, working on the third and fourth floors of the building.
– UBA: Also confirmed staff losses, though the exact number of fatalities remains undisclosed. Tony Elumelu, Chairman of UBA and Heirs Holdings, described the incident as devastating and cut short his trip to the United Nations General Assembly to return to Nigeria and mourn with affected families.
