The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident in a statement on its X handle, noting that while several occupants escaped unhurt, emergency teams were working to revive four others.
According to the agency, the fire started in the building’s basement inverter room around 1:38 p.m., spreading thick smoke through multiple floors and triggering an urgent evacuation.
Videos shared on social media showed dense smoke and chaotic scenes as occupants and bystanders assisted in evacuating victims before fire officials arrived.
Rescue workers eventually brought the situation under control, continuing search, rescue, and medical efforts at the site.
