The Kogi State Government ban compulsory customized textbooks and notebooks in schools across the state. While customised textbooks and notebooks are not entirely prohibited, the commissioner clarified that they must be sold at prevailing market prices, with no obligation on parents to purchase them directly from schools. The Commissioner for Education, Mr. Wemi Jones, emphasized the need for schools to comply with the State Education Law of 2020. Private schools have been urged to register with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) or Association of Model Islamic Schools (AMIS) for effective coordination and communication. This move aims to sanitize the school system and restore the core values of education.
