Dangote begins free fuel distribution on Monday and slashes petrol to N841 per litre in Lagos.

Dangote Refinery is set to commence its free fuel distribution scheme on Monday, September 15, 2025, starting with Lagos, the South West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo states. As part of the initiative, the refinery has slashed petrol prices to:
– N841 per litre in Lagos and the South West
– N851 per litre in Abuja, Edo, Kwara, Rivers, and Delta states

The free fuel distribution scheme aims to bring relief to millions of Nigerians by providing fuel at reduced prices. Over 1,000 trucks have been received by the refinery to kick-start the program, with more states expected to benefit as additional trucks arrive in Nigeria.

Some key highlights of the initiative include:
– CNG-Powered Trucks: Dangote Refinery has invested over N720 billion to deploy 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas-powered trucks for nationwide distribution, expected to save Nigerians over N1.7 trillion annually.
– Logistics Enhancement: The refinery aims to enhance logistic strength and reduce costs across the distribution value chain of the domestic economy.
– Government Support: The Presidency has described the scheme as a pivotal step in mainstreaming gas-powered transport, while the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has welcomed the move, citing significant logistical benefits.
