Three Nigerian nationals have been sentenced to a combined jail term of 96 years for their involvement in vehicle theft activities within the Kumasi Metropolis, Ghana.

Three Nigerian nationals, Francis Friday, Linus Agwazie, and Russell Ekenze, have been sentenced to a combined 96 years in prison by the Atasemanso Circuit Court in Ghana for vehicle theft activities within the Kumasi Metropolis. Here’s a breakdown of their sentences:
– Russell Ekenze: Initially sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with hard labor for theft-related charges. He later received an additional 10-year sentence, which will run concurrently with his previous term.
– Francis Friday and Linus Agwazie: Both men were sentenced to 8 years imprisonment with hard labor each on two counts, with their sentences running concurrently. They also received an additional 20-year sentence on other charges, which will run concurrently with their previous sentences.

The trio was arrested on June 20, 2025, after police linked them to multiple theft cases. The Ashanti Regional Police Command hailed the convictions as a significant step in tackling organized and transnational crime in the region. The police also urged the public to remain vigilant and support law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.

This case highlights growing concerns over the involvement of Nigerian nationals in criminal activities in Ghana. In recent months, Ghanaian authorities have cracked down on foreign criminal networks, including the arrest of 50 Nigerians in Accra for alleged cyber fraud and human trafficking.
