The Abia State Government has implemented a policy prohibiting students from switching schools between Senior Secondary 2 (SS2) and Senior Secondary 3 (SS3) classes. This move aims to curb examination malpractice in the state. The policy applies to both public and private schools.
The policy is part of Governor Alex Otti’s administration efforts to reform the education sector. Abia State also offers free and compulsory education for primary and junior secondary school students, while SS1 to SS3 students pay a reduced tuition fee of N3,300. Principals and school heads who collect unauthorized fees or levies from students may face sanctions, including possible job loss.
