Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa has indeed welcomed the conviction of Simon Ekpa, a pro-Biafra agitator, by a Finnish court. According to General Musa, the conviction sends a strong message that sponsors of terrorism will be held accountable, regardless of their location. This stance aligns with his broader concerns about Nigeria’s porous borders and the need for improved security measures to prevent terrorist infiltration.

In recent statements, General Musa emphasized the importance of fencing Nigeria’s borders to stem the tide of terrorism, particularly along the Niger-Nigeria border, which he described as a critical entry point for terrorist groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP. He also highlighted the need for a decentralized approach to implementing border security measures, leveraging technology such as surveillance drones and cameras to enhance monitoring and reduce manpower requirements.
