The Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre) has called for the dethronement of the Apetu of Ipetumodu, Oba Joseph Oloyede, following his conviction for a $4.4 million fraud in the United States. Oba Oloyede was sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to repay the amount. HEDA is urging Governor Ademola Adeleke to initiate the process of removing the monarch from his position, citing the conviction as a breach of integrity and respect expected of his office. The organization argues that allowing him to remain on the throne would undermine the credibility of Osun’s traditional institution.
