Simon Ekpa, a pro-Biafra agitator and self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, has been sentenced to six years in prison by the Päijät-Häme District Court in Finland. He was found guilty of inciting terrorism in Nigeria through his online activities, which promoted the independence of the Biafra region through illegal means between 2021 and 2024.
Ekpa, a dual Finnish-Nigerian national, was accused of participating in a terrorist organization and publicly inciting crimes for terrorist purposes. The prosecution presented evidence of his online activities and communications, which they claimed incited acts of violence in Nigeria under the guise of pro-Biafra agitation.
