Breaking: Abuja-Kaduna train derails.

A passenger train traveling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed on Tuesday morning, August 26, 2025, around 11 a.m., leaving several carriages overturned and triggering panic among those on board. The incident occurred along the Kaduna corridor, with passengers scrambling to safety in fear and confusion. Military personnel have been deployed to the site to assist in evacuating stranded passengers.

The cause of the derailment remains unclear, and there has been no official confirmation of injuries or casualties. According to the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), the train derailed at 11:09 a.m. at KM 49 between Kubwa station and Asham station. Emergency rescue, medical personnel, and nearby hospitals have been mobilized.

This incident is the latest in a string of disruptions on the Kaduna-Abuja rail line, which has experienced several technical issues in recent years. In a similar incident last week, a fault was reported on the same route due to a hot axle caused by abnormal temperature and excessive heat on the journal housing .
