Sean Kingston, the Jamaican-American singer known for hits like “Beautiful Girls” and “Fire Burning”, has been sentenced to 3.5 years in federal prison for his role in a $1 million wire fraud scheme. Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were found guilty of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and multiple counts of wire fraud. They used fake wire transfer confirmations to obtain luxury items, including a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, expensive jewelry, and a massive LED TV.

Kingston apologized to the judge and acknowledged responsibility for his actions. His lawyers had requested leniency, citing his limited financial understanding and erratic upbringing. However, the judge criticized Kingston’s deliberate scheme and its repeated use of deception.
