A Federal High Court has ordered the Nigeria Police to pay Sowore N30 million for wrongly declaring him “wanted.”

A Federal High Court in Lagos just ordered the Nigeria Police Force to pay Omoyele Sowore ₦30 million after ruling that their “wanted” declaration was unlawful and violated his rights ¹ ² ³. Justice Musa Kakaki said the police acted without a court‑issued warrant or any formal invitation, making the notice ultra vires and unconstitutional. The judgment also nullified the earlier police warning for Sowore to stay away from Lagos, emphasizing that only a court can authorize such a public “wanted” label .
