The Federal High Court in Abuja has again given Nnamdi Kanu another chance to defend the terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has given Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), until today, November 5, 2025, to defend himself against terrorism charges brought by the Federal Government. Justice James Omotosho warned that if Kanu fails to present his defense, he risks losing his right to do so, and the court may proceed to judgment based on the prosecution’s evidence.

Kanu has refused to enter a defense, arguing that there is no valid charge against him under Nigerian law, citing the repeal of the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act. The prosecution maintains that a prima facie case has been established against Kanu, and he should proceed with his defense.

This trial has been ongoing for several years, with Kanu’s arrest, detention, and trial sparking controversy and debate about human rights and the rule of law in Nigeria.
