Bauchi state Government Moves To Create 29 Local Government areas and Seeks NASS Approval.

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has signed a bill creating 29 additional local government areas, seeking National Assembly approval. Currently, Bauchi has 20 LGAs, and with the proposed addition, it’ll have 49 LGAs, serving a population of over 10 million.

The new LGAs are:
– Awaiting NASS Approval: The National Assembly must pass an act to make consequential provisions for the new LGAs
– Existing LGAs: Alkaleri, Bauchi, Bogoro, Dambam, Darazo, Dass, Gamawa, Ganjuwa, Giade, Itas/Gadau, Jama’are, Katagum, Kirfi, Misau, Ningi, Shira, Tafawa Balewa, Toro, Warji, and Zaki

This move aims to enhance administrative efficiency and grassroots governance. However, analysts warn of potential financial burdens on state resources.
