DSS Intercepts Cache Of Sophisticated W€apOns In Delta State, Arrests Two Suspects.

The Department of State Services (DSS) in Delta State has intercepted a large cache of sophisticated weapons, including 7 General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), several AK-47 rifles, 5 hand grenades, and hundreds of rounds of live ammunition. The weapons were concealed in bags of beans transported from the North to the Oko Food Market along the Asaba-Onitsha Expressway.

Two suspects, Stephen Sabo Atoshi, a notorious arms dealer, and his accomplice, a 40-year-old secondary school teacher from Taraba State, were arrested in connection with the intercepted weapons. The suspects allegedly trafficked small arms and light weapons from southern Libya through Chad into Nigeria via an illegal border in Yobe State.

The DSS also uncovered 497 cartons of counterfeit drugs intended for illegal distribution within Delta State. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has directed security agencies to launch an immediate crackdown on criminal networks operating across the state and to arrest those responsible for the killing of Jerry Aduara, a youth leader from Okere-Urhobo Kingdom.
