Former Nigerian president has stirred controversy after claiming credit for helping Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, grow his cement empire across the continent.
According to him he, played a key role in enabling Dangote to begin producing up to 5 million tonnes of cement daily by leveraging government resources and facilitating introductions to other African nations.
“I helped Aliko to start producing 5 million tonnes of cement daily by using government resources and introduced him to other African countries. I took him to Tanzania, I took him to Senegal, that’s how Aliko made it,”.
The statement has however sparked mixed reactions, with many Nigerians questioning the extent of government involvement in Dangote’s business success.
