Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, the Administrator of Rivers State, has declared that he has “sufficiently achieved” the mandate given to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This declaration follows the successful conduct of local government elections in the state, which marked a significant milestone in Rivers State’s return to full democratic governance.

The elections, held across all 23 Local Government Areas, were described as peaceful, credible, and transparent by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) Chairman, Dr. Mike Odey. The commission completed the electoral process within 30 days, a feat considered unprecedented in Nigerian electoral history .


Administrator Ibas commended RSIEC for organizing a credible electoral process and thanked his team, security agencies, and state officials for their collaboration and synergy. He assured that his administration would meticulously review the RSIEC report and issue an official government white paper in due course.
