The Defence Headquarters says Nigerian troops killed several terrorists, arrested 85 suspects, and rescued 66 kidnap victims across the country in August. The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, stated this while briefing newsmen in Abuja.
The military operations were conducted in various regions, including the North East, where troops of Operation Hadin Kai eliminated scores of Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters, arrested 15 suspects, and rescued eight kidnapped victims. In the North West, troops neutralized terrorists in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Katsina States, arresting 23 suspects and rescuing 24 kidnapped victims. In the North Central, troops killed terrorists, arrested seven criminals, and rescued two kidnap victims.
This recent success is part of the military’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and insecurity in the country. In the past two years, the military has reportedly killed 6,260 terrorists, arrested 14,138 terrorists and criminals, and rescued 5,365 kidnapped victims.
